There is no debate when it comes to the drastic effects climate change has had on the Earth. Evident in every country, global warming is causing long-lasting changes to our climate system that threatens irreversible consequences. 2019 was the warmest year on record, and temperatures only continue to rise. The Paris Agreement, signed in 2016, works to strengthen the global response to the impending threat of climate change by limiting global warming to well below 2°C and pursuing efforts to limit it to 1.5°C. We must act now, and with relentless commitment, to limit the increase in global temperature.
As of 2017 humans are estimated to have caused approximately 1.0°C of global warming above pre-industrial levels.
Sea levels have risen by about 20 cm (8 inches) since 1880 and are projected to rise another 30–122 cm (1 to 4 feet) by 2100.
